Getting started
Install the theme
Add Handsome to your store, pick the preset closest to your brand, and preview it before you publish.
Add the theme
- In Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
- Click Visit Theme Store, find Handsome, and click Try theme or Add theme.
- Choose a preset: Handsome, Karat, Gather, Tribe or Woof. You can change everything later, so pick the one whose style is closest to yours.
- The theme is added to your Theme library, unpublished. Your current theme stays live.
Preview and customise
- In the Theme library, click Customize on Handsome.
- Use the page selector at the top of the editor to move between the home page, a product, a collection and other pages.
- Click any section on the left to edit it, or Add section to add a new one.
- Click Save often. Nothing is visible to customers until you publish.
Preview on your phone
In the editor, use the device toggle at the top to check the mobile layout. Most shoppers will see that version first.
Publish
When you're happy, go back to Online Store → Themes, open the … menu on Handsome and click Publish.
Moving from another theme
Your products, collections, pages, menus and blog posts stay exactly as they are, because they belong to the store, not the theme. What you set up again is the look: sections, colours, fonts and the content you placed inside sections.
Apps that added code
Some apps add code to your old theme. If an app stops showing after you switch, open the app and look for an option to add it to a new theme, or add its app block in the editor.
