Languages and translations

Handsome includes the theme's own text in English, French, German, Spanish and Italian, and works with Shopify's translation tools for everything else.

Built-in languages

Buttons, labels and messages that come from the theme (such as Add to cart, Sold out or Free shipping) are already translated into French, German, Spanish and Italian. When you add one of these languages in Settings → Languages, the theme's text switches automatically.

Your own content

Product titles, descriptions, section headings and the text you type in the editor are your content. Translate them with Shopify's free Translate & Adapt app, or another translation app.

Changing the theme's wording

To change a default phrase, for example Add to cart to Add to bag:

Go to Online Store → Themes → … → Edit default theme content.
Search for the phrase and type your own wording.

Right-to-left languages

For languages such as Arabic and Hebrew, set a separate RTL font under Theme settings → Typography. Layouts mirror automatically.
